Methods of cultivating rice change from culture to culture, and become especially divergent in different countries. However, in most Asian countries like India, rice, often called mountain rice,is grown in pools of mud, under water or in self-wet soil. In these places a traditional hand method of cultivating and harvesting rice still practiced until today.
Of the 1300 kinds of rice in the world, 1100 exist in India. The success of rice cultivation depends on three main factors: the temperature (not lower than 21 Degrees Celsius);, the abundance of water throughout the whole period of growth; and a rich, soil with plenty of organic material to provide fertility.
