Meat Fatayer

Ingredients Description

3 cups of plain flour

1 tbsp salt

1 egg

3 tbsp of ghee

¾ cup or 190 ml of water


For filling:


750 g of minced beef

2 medium-sized onion, finely chopped

1 tbsp ground black pepper

2 cubes of meat broth, soluble in 3 tablespoons of water

2 cups of frying oil


- Sift the flour in a large bowl. Make a hole in the middle and add the ghee with the egg

- knead the flour mixture by hand and add a little water gradually until the ingredients are fully mixed together and form a homogeneous dough

- Divide the dough into 4 parts. Cover and leave aside for one hour

- Mix the minced meat with onions, black pepper and chicken stock cubes. Stir ingredients well together and leave aside

- Knead each part of the dough, then cut with a glass into a round shaped pieces. Place a tablespoon of meat mixture in the center of each piece and close through bending the sides

- Fry the Fatayer over boiling oil at 180 ° C until it turns golden brown


Serve hot
